Sandalwood. I am immovably loyal to its scent, astringency, its meditative aroma. I have history with Sandalwood as almost a birthright, although I was not born in places that grow this precious tree. I don’t feel it held against me, however because I think about Sandalwood a lot, not just in terms of nostalgia and metaphysics but for the seasons it endures in its lifespan. In how one might grow the tree here where long summer heat is plentiful. Or how it has been used in ritual and worship through the ages in almost angelic glory.
Australian Sandalwood has come into its own in the last decade, with practiced sustainability and having learned the painful lessons India had been reluctant to adopt in preserving the patriarchal oil of the Santal tree – Mysore. Every year gets better: Sandalwood oil thicker more buttery, hydrosol richer, deeper. Each year gaining more perfected notes to the original Sandalwood. Each year closer to the holy grail of Santal.
We are deeply satisfied with this year’s distillation of Australian Sandalwood hydrosol. It is profound in its notes of caramel and sandalwood and is decidedly the best we’ve had to date. It is the one I carry with me everywhere and at any given time have extra bottles in frequented spots in my home. It balances skin and calms irritation, acne and rosacea. I spray my hair too, for softness and more importantly, for extraordinary pleasure.
Packaged in 3.3oz/100 ml tamper proof refillable glass bottles.
All of our hydrosols are kept in dedicated refrigeration until shipped.
