Myrrh Essential oil

Myrrh essential oil has been walking pharmacy for me for as long as I can remember. I can smell its history, feel pleased when it heals as it did in Ancient Greek, roman and Egyptian civilizations and feel treated to an ambrosia of amber notes in perfume. Myrrh is a fixative and all around team player in aromatic blends despite its complicated chemical composition. Oils with honey profiles such as acacia, broom and beeswax absolutes are well matched with myrrh and its sexy balsamic notes are a true blender for sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, opopanax and my favorite; any species of frankincense. The raw, mahogany colored resin is inspirational. It’s beautiful to burn in incense as a nod to kyphi and and other funerary aromas of the Egyptian empire. Tincturing the essential oil brings  heavy aroma compounds that I like in a spicy or amber composition.
