Monoi Oil Monoi de Tahiti

Monoi de Tahiti is a beautiful, nourishing Tahitian oil consisting of coconut oil and Tiare flowers (Tahitian gardenia, Gardenia tahitensis), native to the French Polynesian islands. Monoi oil is make by enfleurage, a method of layering blossoms in coconut oil – a method used in Grasse for decades and one I have also used for local Californian gardenia and jasmine blossoms with much fragrant success. Monoi offers a two to three year shelf life which is ideal for making nature perfumery. The oil solidifies in cool temperatures and can be liquified by putting the container in hot water for a couple of minutes. We were lucky to start out with quality authentic Monoi Oil but had a real awakening when we ventured out from our Tahitian supplier due to shortages at the time. We found there is a lot of fake Monoi oil out there, even from supposedly reputable suppliers. I’m glad we were eventually able to return to our Tahitian supplier who has always provided us with a divine, authentic, premium oil – perfect for skin and hair care. One thousand gardenia flowers go into every maceration … and it shows.

We ship Monoi oil in one ounce glass jars in cooler temperatures for easier access to the product.

Please refrain from ordering if accustomed to Monoi oil with fragrance added typically available in the American market. This is an authentic 100% natural product and doesn’t have fragrance added. We have received lower feedback from customers who are expecting a synthetic fragrance scent after being advised that this is not the synthetic product they may be used to. This greatly affects our small business in ways such as searchability of our curated products.

Suggested Uses: a few drops applied to skin as a night serum or under makeup. Monoi de Tahiti is highly beneficial for dry, frizzy hair particularly after over exposure to sun.  This 1oz/30ml carrier oil is typically a 30 day supply.

The carrier oil aluminum packaging has glass inserts that can be refilled once empty to reuse and minimize waste.
