Spring is ephemeral here in Northern California. Paper Whites bloom their fetidness, almost sickening so, in what feels like only a couple of weeks before the summer heat arrives. It’s the intensely green and quiet time before the Pink Lotus arrives and the California Sugar Pine gives permission for me to harvest its sticky, medicinal resin. I check in on all my old friends, the Alligator Juniper that waits for no one because its been here longer than any of us and the one Rose varietal that brings me back to my childhood, the Wild Rose of Alberta. Chamomile flowers raises their sweet, hopeful faces through the new grass to the turquoise sky, pleased at the arrival of the warm spring sun. The flowers and turquoise sky brings me back to when I was a kid, smelling the first spring Prairie flower; the Crocus and daydream of what my life might be like when I was grown.
Roman Chamomile hydrosol is considered as all purpose as Lavender or Melissa hydrosol. The sweet scented hydrosol is gentle for baby’s rashes and spritzing over a baby blanket has a calming effect. Troubled skin such as rocacea, acne, heat rises and redness is reduced with Chamomile, particularly when blended with Neroli hydrosol. It can be helpful on burns and sunburns. The hydrosol works well as a makeup remover and is gentle enough to use as an eye compress. Roman Chamomile is gentle for use on pets too, particularly hot spots.
Shelf life: twenty four months and even up to three years – very stable. Refrigerate to prolong freshness.
Packaged in 3.3oz/100 ml tamper proof refillable glass bottles.
Our hydrosols are kept in dedicated refrigeration until shipped.
