From the Valley of Roses comes the Grand Dame of roses, Rosa damascena, known as Rose Otto essential oil. Rose Otto is one of the first luxury rose oils I purchased (heck, the first rare oil, period) when I began to work in the aromatherapy field. In our early importing days, I had little purchasing power so it was an occasion, a reason to celebrate when this rare oil arrived from overseas. How I miss those 90’s rose prices – so long gone. Long gone. Damask Rose has over 275 constituents and is considered the right hand of perfumery and perhaps the left hand of clinical aromatherapy. Rose Otto is simply the queen of florals, Venus of flowers. We have been buying our rose oil, hydrosol and concrete from the same distillery for almost 20 years and they have without fail, provided the most outstanding rose products. Proof that growing certified organic florals in a green, sustainable way results in a superior oil that is indeed the Queen.
