Zdravets Floral Wax, True Geranium Bulgaria

Zdravets was one of those essential oils that always floated in the apothecary, between Clary Sage and geranium but in a way I didn’t get it. Had it to have it without understanding its full potential or profile. The name itself, “zdrave” means health and one thing I’ve come to learn about herbalism in Bulgaria is they are very serious about using herbs to achieve good health. That said, my focus has been mostly on its use in perfumery.

Importing zdravets floral wax was a low-key stealth move without realizing because it was within the wax that I discovered a truly beautiful profile – tea rose, clary sage, broom absolute; a kind of rose – wood portrait of the plant itself. It adds a beautiful geranium aroma to solid perfumes, lotions, incense, candles and when tinctured, this floral wax makes a stellar fixative. Floral waxes are some of the most useful, fragrant and flexible materials to work with and I’m pleased to offered a growing list of them.
