Plant and floral waxes are the utility box (or at least I recommend to be) of every incense maker, perfumer, soap maker and folks curious to explore waxes in their work. Waxes are forgiving and cost effective in the exploration stage of production and can add body to a composition. I often to refer to them as my island perfume making material as in, if I were relocated to a small desolate island and was allowed to bring one thing to make scent, it would be a plant or floral wax.
Clove is a beautiful treat to work with. Every time I smell the spicy notes, I’m visualizing carnation concrete gently warmed with clove wax to bring the best of each profile forward. Clove is a semi soft dark wax and is easily warmed for easy workability.
Justine Crane’s (The Scented Djinn) review said it best about clove bud wax:
“Clove Bud Wax ~ warm, sultry, soft clove bud without the sharp edges. This one is sexy. Those sharper notes emerge on the skin, you know the ones I’m talking about — the notes that make you salivate and tingle.”
I couldn’t have said it better.
