The first fruit I ate as a child were strawberries. I would walk in the garden, where my grandmother faithfully grew the one fruit that could survive short prairie summers and long harsh winters. We would pick berries together and talk about the garden, or rather she would fill the pail and my farm dirt speckled harvest would land in my belly. She would pour canned milk and a spoon of sugar over berries warmed by prairie sun as her quiet way of loving her first granddaughter. And I would crush every berry in the bowl to catch a whiff of the delicate floral notes I recognized from my mother’s Rugosa roses.
To my aromatic nose, small farm grown strawberries beg to be eaten and to be distilled. Strawberries are from the rose family and it is those floral nuances that shine through this hydrosol thanks to the certified organic farmers I work with here in Sacramento. I distill each batch in small runs once a month so we can offer a truly exceptional hydrosol. Those rose notes and berry juiciness are just as I would expect in a well distilled hydrosol. They also bring me right back to my grandmother and her strawberry garden.
Suggested use: Strawberry hydrosol is a vitamin C powerhouse making it ideal for oily skin and collagen production. Paired with our Strawberry Seed oil, it hydrates and gently perfumes skin. The hydrosol is particularly nourishing for mature skin and helps with uneven skin tone, particularly with red skin due to overheating or rosacea.
