Musk Ambrette seed oil is a heavy, sweet, fatty oil; a classic addition to animal free musk based botanical perfume blends. The oil is either steam distilled or extracted by CO2 and truth be told, not only is steam distilled horrifically expensive but I am more of a fan of the CO2 extract. It has that dirty girl musky-ness I adore. I like to age out the green notes that tend to arrive with the fresh distillation for a year or two. Aging the oil, like aging Patchouli brings out the true heart of the oil.
I’ve read the Musk Ambrette seeds are great in coffee. It’s one that is on my to do list. Feel free to share about your experience with it and we’ll compare taste experiences or mythologies, whatever is deeper.
Suggested use: Wonderful earthy addition to woody and fruit natural perfumery compositions..
