Fans of our offerings know we are not interested in selling mundane essential oils, absolutes and other accoutrements of the aromatherapist and perfumer. We’re picky kids about what we do sell because for us, sales are the byproduct of doing what we love. So, it goes that if we are offering a peppermint essential oil, it had better be absolutely fabulous, better than Patsy and Eddy too. I was so excited to get my hands on this home grown fourth generation peppermint that the labels arrived from the printer a week before the peppermint was distilled and shipped to me. I live hard, what can I say. Why I felt it was important to offer American grown certified organic peppermint is because this species of peppermint, Black Mitcham is an early species dating back from the 1700s. It is pure, crisp and sweet smelling. It’s the peppermint scent and taste I remember from much missed peppermint patties of my childhood.
Black Mitcham Peppermint is one of the most versatile essential oils available and can be used in many applications: a drop in shampoo will invigorate the scalp, added to mouthwash to freshen breath, added to natural cleaning products or vinegar to make an inexpensive cleanser that smells fresh. Peppermint relieves headaches and the dull pain of migraines. It tightens pores and can offer relief to a sunburn when a drop is added to aloe vera. It is a very effective insect and rodent repellant yet is safe to use around humans and pets.
Suggested uses: blend with a good carrier oil to use on temples for headaches. Can also be applied to chest for respiratory support. Blends well with citrus and frankincense essential oils. Completely sniffable on its own.
