Peru Balsam Essential Oil

One of the most useful oils in the perfumer’s organ, Peru balsam has been an aromatic at odds with perfumers. The profile is a warm vanilla cinnamon soft leather note that sweetens an amber composition and can add a softness to base notes that might otherwise be staccato in a perfume. Clear Peru balsam oil was a long wait for me. It’s an applicable aroma that I wanted to use in many formulas but the color of Peru balsam resinoid, while a great look for chocolate, isn’t so much for an alcohol or oil based perfume that then stains the skin. This essential oil provides options. It allows the perfumer to use the oil where a vanilla absolute or oleoresin will not only darken the composition, but may also overly sweeten and thereby dominate other accords in the perfume. Peru balsam has become indispensable in my work as I imagine it will for others.
